Beats Per Plant keeps things simple. This website has no contact forms, no ads, and no accounts. It sets no cookies at all — which is why you are not being asked to accept any.
This site sets no cookies, and no third party sets one either unless you ask for it: pressing play on an embedded YouTube video loads it from YouTube, and from that moment Google's own cookies and policy apply. Nothing reaches Google before you press it.
Two small things are kept in your browser's local storage:
Both stay on your device, hold a preference and nothing else, and can be cleared in your browser at any time.
Visits are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which works without cookies. Each page view records:
Instead of a cookie, visitors are told apart by a value calculated from the request itself, which is discarded after 24 hours. It cannot follow you to another website, and it cannot be traced back to you. Your IP address is used to work that value out and to resolve the country — it is not stored.
Anything in a web address after a “?” is removed before the visit is recorded, apart from campaign tags beginning with utm_.
A short list of interactions is also counted, so it is possible to see which work holds attention and which links are worth keeping:
Each of these is a count and nothing more. The values come from a fixed list written into the site's code — never from anything you type, and never anything that identifies you or your device.
The legal basis is legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: understanding how a portfolio is used, with the least data that makes it possible. No consent banner is needed because nothing is stored on or read from your device for this purpose. Since what remains is aggregated and holds no identifier, no individual can be singled out of it.
Vercel and Mux act on our instructions under a data processing agreement. Google does not: once a video is playing, YouTube collects data for its own purposes under Google's privacy policy. These providers may process data outside the EU under Standard Contractual Clauses.
Under the GDPR you may ask for access to your data, or its correction, erasure or restriction, and you may object to processing. In practice there is little to act on here: nothing collected through this website is linked to you, so we cannot find "your" data even if asked. Requests therefore usually concern email you have sent us.
You can also complain to the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
